Government Falls

November 29th, 2005

Well, no surprise, the Liberal goverment today was defeated in Parliament, during the non-confidence vote.

Rather than a celebration, I actually think this situation is a huge embarassment to us, as a supposed, civilized, progressive, first world country.

Having lived in a "third" world country, Kenya, I can tell you the true meaning of democracy and stability. We have it here, in Canada. ...

Remembrance Day

November 26th, 2005

I think a day like this is not given the attention it really deserves. Especially from people like myself, who adopted Canada as their home.

Lucky, I did not come from a war torn country, but I did come from a country that had on going civil un-rest, and where security was an 24 hour issue. Kenya is a wonderful place, however nothing beats Canada. Our way of life here is second to none! We t ...

Health Care I

November 26th, 2005

The ongoing debate of health care continues to dominate the news, especially with the threats of a winter election. Here are some of my experiences.

As previously mentioned, my Father passed away last year after various health issues, some of which were due to his age. However, understanding that we must all die sooner or later, I believe the keeping ones dignity is important for anyone, at ...

They are here two or three times a year training for the Torino games in 2006.

A truly great bunch of guys, who have come here on their own steam. No sponsors like some of the big teams. Ring a bell??? Jamaican bobsled team?? Look how far t ...

My Father

November 26th, 2005

Today is the one year anniversary of my Father passing

I miss him. Tremendously in fact. Yet, I feel he is at peace and that makes me smile. But not without a tear or three.

I think of him everyday. I feel his guidance, his encouragement, his compassion, and his love in everything I do, and in all my thoughts. This gives me immense strength, and a different way of looking at everyday life.

Bill Clinton in Calgary

November 26th, 2005

On October 19th, Bill Clinton, along with some other noted speakers, gave a talk to about 3000 people at the Telus Convention Centre in Calgary. I had never heard Clinton speak in person, and though the $230.00 per ticket would be worth the price. The past President spoke last, after a number of very interesting.....and one not so interesting, speakers over the course of the day.

A client of ...

Celtic Tiger

November 26th, 2005

Our usual circle of friends decided to go to the production of Celtic Tiger, a sort of Riverdance like performance that was held in Calgary for one night last week. Michael Flatley, the inventor of Riverdance and Lord of the dance is the lead in this production.

I saw Lord of the Dance a few years ago, which was incredible. This production in terms of dancing was also incredible, however the ...

Calgary, to leave or not

November 26th, 2005

So my good friends Erin and Eric left this past week to live in Montreal. It was very sad to see them go, as they brought so much diversity to my circle of a already, diverse friends.

We met them 5 years go at the Moulin Rouge party, which was charity even hosted by the Calgary Real Estate Boards, charity foundation. (a great cause btw)

They were dressed as outrageous as us, so we couldnt h ...
